The ten days of the festival are like a firework display: they are the culmination of months of work (with few breaks) that suddenly comes to fruition and is presented to the public. Behind the scenes, hundreds of people are working all the time: endlessly long days, unexpected events, schedules that have to be adjusted, stars that go missing, technical problems and more. Working for the festival requires huge flexibility and resources. The general public is not aware of any of this. Thanks to the work done behind the scenes, the workings of this well-oiled machine remain mostly invisible, and festival-goers cannot hear the grinding of the gears. It is an extremely complex machine.
What does it take to make such a high-performing team work well? What resources have the people interviewed had to bring to the job? What are the limitations of such an all-consuming job? Is it always possible to separate your private life from your work?
