Coming soon!

Over the coming months, a collection of video clips will take shape on this page, filled with memories, anecdotes and experiences all relating to some aspect of the Locarno Film Festival. The collection will present a variety of voices: those of (former) staff, neighbours and attendees of the festival. They convey a personal and nuanced view of the festival’s history. We’ve posted a first video as a brief glimpse of what’s to come.

A great many people have contributed to piazza nostra since the project's launch in the summer of 2024, sharing their story(-ies) and memories of the Locarno Film Festival. The piazza nostra team will continue to interview people until the end of 2025. A variety of individuals, perspectives and occupations come to the fore in these interviews, all of which have something in common: each, in their own way, has been part of the Locarno Film Festival over the past 60 years – whether visibly or invisibly.

Archiving

All the video interviews and their transcripts will be archived in full in the Cinémathèque suisse in Lausanne, thereby adding some new perspectives to the current holdings on the history of the festival.
